Saturday 25th February 2012 - Start time: 7-00am - Entries Close Monday 20th February 2012.
A late entry fee will apply after 21st February. Late entries will be accepted up until 7pm Friday 24th February 2012.
2012 Welcome Guide
4.2km open water challenge from Acacia Bay to 3 mile bay:
- Please bring your wetsuit to registration for the compulsory Didymo Dunk.
- No EFTPOS at registration, payment must be either cash or cheque.
- Plus a 1km or 2km option - swim in a loop starting and finishing at the 3 Mile Bay finish area.
- Wetsuits optional - expected Lake Temp. 20-22 C
- Individual NON-MOTORISED support craft optional. Individual Kayakers must be experienced and wear appropriate safety gear.
- Support and powered backup craft will be provided.
- Registration 5pm to 7pm at the Great Lake Centre, Tongariro Street.
- Start is from the Acacia Bay at 7.00 am. Briefing is at 6.55 am.
- Bus Transport from 3 Mile Bay to Acacia Bay start area will leave at 6.20 am. Drop bag service will return bags to finish area.
- Hot drinks and breakfast provided at finish.
- Prize-giving from 9.15am at the finish.
NOTES:
- Every endeavour will be made for your safety, however the Organisers and Sponsor cannot be held responsible for any accident in or out of the water. The risk is yours; please consult your doctor if you have any doubt regarding fitness. You enter at your own risk.
- On Line entries and payment are encouraged via the website link www.acrossthelakeswim.co.nz.
- Refund Policy: No refunds will be offered.
- Cancellation Policy: We will not be making any cancellation decision until 6:45am on event day. This will be in consultation with Lake Taupo Coastguard and only after we have considered an alternative safe, shoreline course.
- Trophies are awarded for 1st place in Men, Women and junior categories. Other categories may be included at the organiser’s discretion. (i.e. Veteran /Masters Section). Spot prizes will be given.
- Children 12 years and under must have open water experience and individual (non-motorised) support craft.
- This event is a Charitable Rotary Project. It is expensive to operate because of all the Safety measures. The small profit the event does make is distributed to the AC Baths Water Safe Programme and other water based activities in the district.
- We no longer accept entries for the 4.2 km swim from any persons that will be under 14 years of age as at the day of the event.
Swim caps provided must be worn by all competitors. |
